What are you looking for?

As a health conscious Mom, I know that even your picnic basket is filled to the brim with finger food meant to fuel your growing babe’s nutritional needs. I also know that fruit salad and carrot sticks can become a little…boring.

I’ve created a list of tried and true recipe all perfectly suited for your day at the park —and your baby’s taste buds! These are easily carried and stored, finger food friendly, and Baby Led Feeding approved. As always, I recommend omitting the salt from any recipe you serve your littles; each of these is adaptable and delicious salt-free.

They are sure to make your afternoon in the sun even brighter.

Vegan Quiche - Tofu, Spinach & Mushroom

Vegan Quiche – Tofu, Spinach & Mushroom

Want to forget the eggs on a hot day? This vegan quiche is a tasty finger food that holds up well in tiny hands. Thanks to the nutritional yeast, each muffin gives a nice boost of vitamin B12, and you don’t have to sacrifice the “cheesy” flavor that makes a quiche, well…a quiche.

Bean and Veggie Nuggets

Bean and Veggie Nuggets

Any food that ends in nugget is generally a baby finger food staple, and with this recipe, you can be assured that your little one will be pleased. I personally love this idea not only because it’s easy for baby to eat, but it incorporates cannellini beans, which are a wonderful digestive aid and source of protein, as well as a healthy serving of shredded zucchini and carrots. All this wrapped into bite-sized portions is the perfect addition to your picnic basket.

Fruit Sweetened Oat Cookies

Fruit Sweetened Oat Cookies

You cannot have a picnic without cookies—this is a fact. Unlike most, these beautiful oat cookies contain no refined sugar and are packed with fiber, coconut, and apples. Do be aware that these are best served fresh; however, you can simply pop them in the freezer in an airtight container right after they leave the oven, then tote them to the park frozen. They thaw fast, providing your baby with a delightful, nutritious cookie that is ultimately Mom-guilt free.

Granny’s 10-Minute Brown Bread

Granny’s 10-Minute Brown Bread

This is one of my favorite recipe! As I’ve said before, bread is my all-time weakness, and this loaf is both satisfying and filled with nutrients. A blend of pumpkin, sunflower, and chia seeds baked into coarse wheat flour and oats boasts of fibrous, digestive health in a delicious package. Spread a bit of butter on top or fill your slices with last night’s roasted chicken. Either way, your carb cravings won’t go unfulfilled.

Sugar Free BLW Muffins – Banana, Lemon & Walnut

You know I love muffins for BLW. You truly cannot ask for a more baby-friendly finger food, and these will please everyone attending your picnic. Lightly sweet and mildly tart, the lemon and banana pair nicely while the walnuts provide an essential helping of omega-3 acids. Make sure to bake a double batch for the whole family.
