What are you looking for?

I have a confession to make. I’m still dealing with the fact that the Christmas holidays are over…ughhh. In fact, I’m not the only one. Quite a lot of us have attested to dealing with something called, The January Blues. *Insert dramatic horror music here*.

So, what exactly are The January Blues?

The January Blues are essentially the dismal time between the 2nd of January and the 1st of February when we feel down in the dumps. This is most commonly thought to be due to our slow descent away from our lovely holiday highs and returning back to reality. Another widely accepted reasoning behind these blues is the realisation that we’ve not kept up with our New Year’s resolutions and January is almost up. Either way, this slump is still very real and felt by many.

Can my children be affected too?

Yes, the truth is that they can be affected. Babies and toddlers have a knack for absorbing what they see and hear. They feed off your energy and if you’re not in the best mood, then they may become increasingly frustrated or fussier.

What can I do to beat these blues?

So, you may be asking, what’s the best way to thwart these low times?? Well, from my own previous experience, I’ve found eating a well balanced diet helps keep the funks away. Simply put, what we eat plays a large part in how we feel. Ever notice after eating too much sugar or salt that you start feeling extra lethargic? So the best solution I can give you is to revamp your diet and start making small changes. Like cutting out parts of your sugar and salt intake. You’ll start feeling better from the inside out in no time! 🙂

While making strides to make yourself feel better, it’s especially important to make sure your baby is continuing to get a vitamin rich diet. It may feel easier to buy processed food but one of the best things you can do for your baby is to make sure they’re receiving the essential nutrients they need. To help you come up with a few healthy baby led weaning friendly recipe ideas, I’ve listed a few recipe from my site that both you and your baby can enjoy together. They can even be made for the whole family so everyone can feel great!
