Rainbow Baby Led Weaning Pinwheels
When you search Baby led weaning recipe, you will most definitely find a recipe for pinwheels. With good reason too! Pinwheels basically consist of either pastry or bread with a filling, rolled up and cut into perfect baby sizes (like the ones here).
Baby led weaning pinwheels can be absolutely loaded with whatever ingredients you like but I always fill mine with a good healthy portion of veggies because the kids always eat them. When starting baby led weaning, it is always a good idea to make sure they see veggies a lot! It will become the norm that your family eats veggies and it really helps with fussy eating as they get older.
I am 100% that some of you are looking at this photo thinking that no way in hell would your fussy eating child eat veggies like this, however, I have a trick that works!
Take all of the veggies, place them on a chopping board and chop them all super super finely. Lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion, whatever it is. The smaller the better. Just make sure you have included some foods they really love, like the cheese for example (Oscar’s favourite). Then, bring these out for your picnic. Don’t even tell them what they are having. Play lots and make sure they are well hydrated and hungry. Then serve up lunch! All you have is little lunchboxes filled with the cutest little pinwheels ever. Don’t make a big deal if they don’t eat them, just try and encourage one bite and tell them their favourite food is inside.
For babies starting baby led weaning
Simply place one rollup in front of them, then let them get to work! It is really that easy. They might look, touch and possibly throw before they taste. Let them explore and take it at their own pace. They will have brilliant fun and just make sure you have a camera ready.
Taste and Rate (pretty please)
