Rainbow Fritters Baby Led Weaning Recipe
Introducing solid food to your baby for the first time can be REALLY scary for a parent, especially if it is your first baby. It is totally natural though so don’t beat yourself up! It takes time for a little baby to learn to feed himself and it also takes time for a Mum or Dad to feel really comfortable about handing a piece of solid food to a baby too. We’re all learning 🙂
Recently, I met a beautiful young mother and her immediate reaction to baby led weaning was ‘no, I could NEVER do that, I would be way too worried’. This is a normal reaction and one I’ve become super good at defending. Her little baby was 12 months old and was still fed purees.
So, I asked her, ‘Would you give him a slice of toast or a rusk or teething biscuit?’ and she said yes she would. I showed her that a muffin, pancake or these Rainbow Fritters were actually MUCH softer that toast, rusks or teething biscuits. She said, she would give it a try with maybe a muffin but, today I met her again and she told me she had made a freezer load of muffins, pancakes and the most surprising, she made my curry pies. The best part was that her little baby was eating EVERYTHING and mealtimes had become the best fun ever!
I thought this was so lovely and inspiring. These yummy Rainbow Fritters are a brilliant recipe for baby led weaning, not only because they are packed with veggies, but because the really great to make ahead and for those busy little babies who are always on the go.
