Christmas Morning
Buttermilk Sweet Potato Pancakes
Pancakes are a fantastic baby led weaning breakfast anytime of year, but the holiday season means sweet potatoes are tumbling from the produce aisles. These fluffy, delicious pancakes are perfect option for your little one; they’re easy to handle, nutritious, and are sure to become a Christmas family favourite!
Sweet Potato Waffles
Waffles are a perfect baby led weaning breakfast — they’re soft and easy for baby to pull apart with teeny fingers, so I create healthy versions as often as possible. The little block-shaped dimples make an awesome counting tool, also!
Cranberry and Orange Christmas Muffins
For baby led weaning muffins are just brilliant! They can be made well ahead of time and the best part is that they freeze. So make lots, freeze and the night before you (or Santa Claus) wants to eat them you can remove from the freezer to defrost. We like ours a little warm so heat in the oven for about 5 minutes at 180ºC.
Overnight Blueberry French Toast
This recipe has a bread pudding sort of taste to it rather than French toast, however all of the components of a French Toast recipe are here. French toast was the very first recipe I ever made all by myself. If you have a small baby and want to make this a brilliant baby led weaning breakfast, you can take off any of the crispy parts and just serve the soft bread and berries. Voila totally baby safe and super tasty too.
Healthy Gingerbread
If there was one smell that says ‘It’s Christmas’ it would definitely be gingerbread. Whether it be cookies, bread or making gingerbread houses, that smell wafting through my house is the start of the season for me. I also am a stickler for healthy eating so my aim was to create a super healthy Christmas recipe that would taste 1) amazing (of course) and 2) trick everyone to think they are having a treat while I’m secretly nourishing them with goodness.
Sweet Potato and Cinnamon Bread
There is nothing like waking up on Christmas morning to a slice of sweet potato and cinnamon bread with homemade jam and cream. This recipe is so easy to make and you can also freeze ahead of time too 🙂 Warm in the oven for about 15 minutes at 180ºC to make it even better! Just sayin!
Part of the Main Event
Cauliflower and Garlic Mash with Rosemary
Every kiddo, from weaning to retiree, will love this just as much as other mashed potato recipe! It’s a fantastic, delicious way to add a portion of healthy veggies to everyone’s plate. It’s a simple addition to your meals to ensure your baby eats well every day.
Cinnamon Roasted Butternut Squash with Cranberries
Cinnamon Roasted Butternut Squash is one of my all-time favorites, especially sprinkled with tart and tasty cranberries—talk about the holiday spirit! If you’re on the hunt for baby led weaning side dishes to tote along for Thanksgiving dinner, this is definitely one you’ll want to save. It’s sweet, delicious, healthy, and it’s easy for little ones to pick up with tiny hands. A true crowd pleaser, through and through.
Turkey Stuffing Muffins
The idea of these little muffins just makes me so happy, they are perfectly loaded with the goodness of veggies, turkey and stuffing and they just say Christmas dinner to me in every single way. They are also the perfect finger food for your baby led weaning friendly Christmas dinner and I guarantee you everyone will be eating them from babies to Grandads and Granny’s.
Christmas Roasted Butternut Squash
I love this dish on my Christmas table. It’s super festive, tastes amazing and just so simple to prep too. Cut the squash into the shapes, add the ingredients and then freeze! You can cook directly from frozen on Christmas day to save on time too!
Baby Friendly Party Food
Baby Led Weaning Quiche
Mini quiches are a wonderful baby led weaning finger food. For one, they’re simply adorable — the cutest little appetizer for family parties! Most importantly, they give you the opportunity to create a balanced meal for baby in one bite! This recipe is packed full of healthy protein and exploding with veggies, scoring a 10+ on the yummy scale. Triple win, Mamas! This is a Christmas party food for kids you will end up making the entire year round.
Sweet Potato with Goat Cheese and Cranberry Bites
It is a well known fact that sweet potato recipe are required holiday side dishes. This one comes in bites that are cute as a bug, delicious and nutritious, and make an ideal addition to your baby led weaning Holiday appetizer spread.
Healthy Christmas Treats
Healthy After Eights
As a child I always remember Christmas treats being – a tin of Danish Butter Biscuits and a box of After Eights. It was really the only time of the year my parents bought either and both the tin and the box were always opened on Christmas day after dinner, usually while watching Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Heres my take and they are AMAZING!!
Courgette Healthy Brownies
Don’t let the word courgette/zucchini or healthy brownies put you off making this recipe. I promise that these gooey brownies are one of the absolute best treats I have ever made AND my kids have been non-stop trying to get me to make them again which is a great sign! Yes they are healthy brownies, yes they do contain a vegetable, but they are super delicious, so easy to make and really inexpensive too.
Santa Brownies
These Santa Brownies are really one of the easiest, cheapest and most crowd-pleasing recipe I have ever made. Super cute, totally delicious and perfect for under the tree for Santa 🙂
Christmas Reindeer Lollipops
These little reindeers are the cutest thing i’ve made and were a huge hit with the kids. This no-bake dough is so easy to make and you will have little reindeer heads on straws bringing giggles to your little ones in less than 20 minutes.
Low Sugar Baby Mince Pies
One of my very first recipe for Baby Led Feeding and one that I now make every single year. These mince pies I think are my favourite recipe of all time. The pastry melts in your mouth and the fruit filling contains only fruit! Not a spoonful of sugar or suet in sight!
Christmas Leftover Recipes
Leftover Turkey Pies
It’s the day after Christmas and you have all this beautiful bird with no pie to bake it into, right? Well, don’t fret because…tada! Say hello to a delicious leftover turkey recipe that will make you want to cook an enormous holiday meal for 20 people every week (or not). Your whole family will absolutely love these baby led weaning dinner pies, and they happily suit adults or adorable tot-friendly sized finger food.
Turkey and Potato Bites
With all the hustle of holiday meals, it’s always nice to find a tasty, nutritious way to put those leftovers to use! This adorable finger food is a perfect leftover turkey recipe that can be served as a main, appetizer, or side to your baby led weaning dinner (or lunch), and they’re just the right shape and size for a tot’s teensy hands.
Amazing Orange Vegetable Soup
Over the Christmas holidays I made tonnes of chicken stock and turkey bone broth so I have been living on vegetable soup. Let’s face it, to make a good soup you just need stock, roughly chopped veggies and a little time to let it cook. It’s a super easy and hearty, warming food that just always makes me feel better.
