I am so excited to share this wonderful, easy family recipe for so many reasons! Firstly, it’s Super Dooper yummy! Secondly, it’s a healthy source of different nutrients, especially protein and fibre (thanks to loads of chickpeas), and a perfect baby led weaning food due to its little nugget shape and easy-to-chew texture. The most awesome bonus, however, is that it’s one of those baby food ideas that turned out so scrumptious it became a family favourite for lunch boxes. An easy recipe that pleases every member of the household is hard to beat, so this one is a winner in my book!

These yummy falafels are made using a mix of spinach and peas to give baby a boost of greens while keeping them sweet and baby-led-weaning friendly. They are also baked instead of fried like traditional falafels, so they’re light, healthy, easy to prepare. You can double this recipe and store them in the fridge (or even freeze them in a hearty freezer bag) to have enough for your whole family. Pack them in school lunches, or fold them into wraps for a filling Mommy meal at work.

While you can surely use a store-bought hummus for dipping, I decided to make my own. This way, I’m certain it has no salt, preservatives, or anything else I want to keep out of my little ones’ diets. This recipe is a very simple, plain hummus that is fast and easy to make. All you need is a food processor and a skillet, and you can have it done before you falafels are done baking. Your family will love the homemade version, and it goes well with a multitude of foods, so be prepared to be asked for more.

So far as easy family recipe that double for baby led weaning go, this one is an absolute gem. It’s healthy, filling, and your entire family will wolf it down—assuming you leave some for them, of course 😀
