A super quick brown bread recipe that kids love! This no yeast bread is packed full of goodness from seeds to oats and is delicious as a healthy snack for kids.

Ingredients

Method

  • Pre-heat oven to 200ºC.
  • Add the sunflower and pumpkin seeds to a pestle and mortar and grind down slightly so that they are still rough but not whole. It makes it easier for little mouths to eat.
  • Add all the dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl and stir to combine.
  • Make a well in the middle and pour in the buttermilk.
  • Stir until the entire mixture is covered in the liquid.
  • Line a loaf tin with parchment paper and then pour your mixture in and spread evenly all around. I tap the bottom of the tin a few times on the counter to release any air bubbles.
  • Bake in the oven for 50mins. If you stick a skewer into the centre it should come out clean.
  • When you take the bread out of the oven wrap in a clean tea-towel until the bread is cooled. This is important for little ones as it prevents the crust from going too hard.

Recipe Notes & Tips

This freezes really well. I usually make 4 loafs at the same time. So hand to keep in the freezer.
