8 Minute Airfryer Cauliflower and Cheese Tots First Food for Baby Led Weaning
As a new Mom introducing your baby to solid food can be really daunting. I get it! I have 3 babies and I have done it 3 times. The recipes that really helped to put my mind at ease were the ones that were nutritious, easy for babies to manage and most importantly squashable between a finger and thumb. Plus it helped a lot when a recipe was really quick too. Let’s face it, being a Mom is a busy job and time is so precious. This recipe is for Airfryer Cauliflower and Cheese Tots is the perfect first food for baby led weaning. They take 8 minutes to make in an airfryer and they are super nutritious too. All all rounder!

6m when baby led weaning starts
I get asked this question all the time so I’m putting it up front and centre. Baby led weaning starts when your baby reaches the full 6 months. That is super important because your baby has reached both developmental readiness and digestive readiness too. It also keeps weaning really safe and will help to put your mind at ease too.

Ingredients used in these Cauliflower Tots
You are going to love how easy it is to make these 8 Minute Airfryer Cauliflower Tots. Made using just 6 simple ingredients, one bowl and an airfryer. It really couldn’t get any easier than that.
- Cauliflower: Despite it’s mild flavor, cauliflower is packed with essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It is an excellent source of vitamin C which supports the immune system and also rich in vitamin K too which is vital to bone health. I steamed the cauliflower prior to using, then using a cloth, squeezed out the liquid to make it a little dryer.
- Garlic granules: For this recipe I used granules. They were just easier but still added a good punch of garlic flavour to the tots. You can also use fresh garlic too but always introduce garlic slowly as too much can cause digestive gas.
- Oats: One of my favorite ingredients ever! I love oats. They are packed full of important nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and contain B vitamins like thiamine and folate which support energy production and brain development.
- Mild Cheddar Cheese: a great addition to your babies diet. Cheese contains calcium which is really important for bone and teeth development. Calcium also plays a role in muscle and nerve function. Cheese also contains vitamin B12, protein as well as so many vitamins and minerals too.
- Egg: Eggs are amazing powerhouses and so nutritious. They contain vitamins such as Vitamin A, D, E, B12 and folate. If your baby is not allergic to eggs then they are an amazing addition to their diet.

How to serve as a baby led weaning finger food
Now that you know how to make the best finger food EVER!!!! (I am very biased obviously), how do you serve them to your baby?
Baby Portion size 6 months – 1 Cauliflower Tot
Offer just one little tot to your baby. Serve with a side of either a softly roasted or steamed vegetable and a preloaded spoon with Greek yogurt. By just offering 3 little things to your little one, you take away the overwhelm which can come when their plate is over filled. If your baby wants more, then you can give more of the foods you want them to try more of.
Baby Portion size 9 months + – 2 Cauliflower Tots
Go by your baby’s cues. Offer 2 cauliflower tots, a side of softly steamed vegetables and a portion of fruit. I also offer a small suction bowl of Greek yogurt. Your baby will be getting used to eating with a spoon at this point.
