2 Ingredient Dough Pizza Poppers
This is by far, the best finger food for baby led weaning I have ever made! Soft, delicious bread rolls, filled with yummy mozzarella and pizza sauce! Think of a calzone style pizza, just totally different and using my 2 ingredient dough so the quickest, easiest pizza recipe you will ever make and the most fun!
First food Ideas for baby led weaning
Baby Led weaning simply means putting food down in front of your baby and letting them pick it up all by themself. It’s so much fun but it also comes with so many questions from parents, especially what foods are good to start baby led weaning.
For the first two weeks of feeding Oscar, I gave him spears of softly roasted sweet potato, butternut squash, and avocado. But after that, I just went for it and made small versions of grown-up food – Teenie Tiny Meatballs, Baby Burgers and Veggie Loaded Pasta. All things we were eating as a family.
Healthy, homemade finger foods are probably the most searched term here at Baby Led Feeding. So, I am always trying to come up with new ideas that will work not just as a great baby finger food recipe but also works for the older kids too. These 2 ingredient Dough Pizza Poppers are a perfect finger food recipe for toddlers, babies and I just had 4 for my lunch too. So, great for parents as well. They freeze really well so you can make ahead and would be amazing as a kid’s birthday party recipe too.
Quick Kids Food
This recipe can be made from start to finish is less than 30 mins! That is a challenge! The dough took me less than 5 minutes to make and uses the same mixture as my 2 Ingredient Breadrolls and 2 Ingredient Naan Bread (I have lot’s more ideas using this mixture filmed and ready to go!) #exciting
To make the cheesy inside, I simply pushed a little Mozerella into the centre and wrapped the dough around until it was fully covered. Then, brush the top with a little olive oil with garlic and bake for 15 minutes until browned. Super easy with minimal effort.
When the dough balls are cooked, take a kids syringe, and suction up a little of the tomato mixture. Then, push the syringe in the side of the doughball and inject with pizza sauce! So cool and it is a really fun thing to do with kids.
Be warned!
These doughballs are totally addictive! Each one just tastes like more and all 12 of these disappeared in less than 5 minutes by my hungry kids. Next time I am definitely making a triple batch!
This recipe yielded 12 balls and used:
1 cup of Yogurt = 250ml
1 cup of self-raising flour = 140g
Dairy-Free
If you want to use a dairy-free yogurt, you can, just add the juice of 1/2 a lemon, and voila! You have the same thing!
This is the closest thing to white bread I have had since giving up gluten! Thank you so much! I am going to be making this recipe every single week!
A Happy Mum
Gluten-Free Bread Recipe
I have had hundreds of Mums make my 2 ingredient bread rolls using plain gluten-free flour and the reports were amazing. Just make sure to use a proper gluten free flour rather than ground oats or chickpea etc. If your gluten-free flour doesn’t have raising agents, add 2 tsp baking powder to every 140g of flour.

Honestly, these Pizza Poppers will become a staple in your house! They are perfect for summer picnics, 100% kid approved and so easy to make. They completely take the effort out of pizza forever! Even though I still love a slice every now and then 🙂

Lots of love and happy Pizza Poppin’!

Baby Led Weaning 2 Ingredient Dough Pizza Poppers Margherita Style
Prep time
10 minutes
Cook time
15 minutes
Servings
12 Dough Balls

Ingredients
2 Ingredient Dough
1 cup self-raising flour (or 1 cup plain flour (or gluten free) + 2tsp baking powder)
1 cup natural yogurt (either Greek or natural or dairy free+lemon juice)
1 Pack Buffalo Mozzarella (or dairy-free cheese)
60ml olive oil
1 clove garlic crushed
2tbsp tomato puree
1tbsp olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic paste or another clove garlic crushed
2-3 tablespoons water
Fresh Basil to serve
Method
- Pre-heat oven to 180ºC.
- Add the flour and yogurt to a bowl and stir well until it forms into a dough.
- Take a small piece of the dough and roll into a circle, then tear off a little of the mozzarella and push inside the dough. Press around the base to completely cover, then place onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Repeat until all the dough is used.
- Pour the olive oil into a bowl and stir in the crushed garlic (or garlic paste). Brush over the top of the dough balls, then bake in the oven for 15 minutes until they are browned outside.
- While the dough balls are cooking, add the tomato puree, olive oil, garlic, and water to a bowl and stir well.
- The dough balls can be served 2 ways – place the dip on the side and let everyone dip themselves, or use a kids medicine syringe to inject sauce in the middle of the dough balls. Super fun!
- Serve with a sprinkle of basil and the remaining pizza sauce.
