Healthy Ferrero Rocher Chocolate Recipe

Children want to be able to give back to those they love too, but unfortunately, they can’t drive, shop, or use credit cards to order gifts online. They need your help to be able to share their love. One of the best ways for children to get involved in gift-giving is by making homemade Christmas presents. You can capitalize on that by using that time not only to teach them but to enjoy those priceless moments that you will all cherish.

Homemade Christmas gift ideas include edible gifts that can be easy for little ones to prepare and nutritious for the recipients. These Ferraro Rocher chocolates are made from heart healthy hazelnuts and include dates and oats which are rich in fiber and antioxidants. With a little help from you, your tots can get these ready for grandparents, friends, or teachers in a snap.

How to make healthy chocolate Ferrero Rocher
This easy chocolate recipe is beyond easy to make. Simply pop all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
Now it’s time to let the kiddos take over. Let each child take about a teaspoon or a tablespoon of the mixture depending on your desired size and the let them roll it into circles. That’s it!

Now you have a few options for coating the candies.
One option is to roll them in ground hazelnuts, extra cocoa powder, dried coconut or any combination of them.
Another easy option would be to coat the candies in melted chocolate. Dip or roll the candies in the chocolate or use a spoon to drizzle the chocolate over the candies. Set the candies over waxed paper to allow the chocolate to harden.
A clever presentation couldn’t be easier. Buy yourself some small cute little boxes or decorative containers. Line the container with colourful tissue paper before nestling the chocolates inside. Imagine the delight on your little child’s face as a grandparent opens and tastes these delicious confections!

Cook time
Servings
20 Chocolates
Ingredients
200g hazelnuts
75g dates (roughly 12 dates)
50g oats
70g coconut oil
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
Coating options: ground hazelnuts, desiccated coconut, cocoa powder
Method
- Pre-heat oven to 180ºC
- To begin, roast 50g of the hazelnuts for 12 minutes, then leave until they are warm enough to touch.
- Remove the skins by bunching them up within a clean tea towel rubbing it between your hands. The skins fall off really easily.
- Crush the nuts using a pestle and mortar until they are fine. For smaller children, ensure they are very fine!
- Soak the dates in hot water for 15 minutes, then drain and add the remaining 150g of hazelnuts, dates, oats, coconut oil and cocoa powder to a food processor. Process until it forms into a smooth mixture with no whole nuts visible.
- Using your hands, roll into small ball shapes then repeat until the mixture is gone.
- You can leave the chocolates as is, or alternatively roll in the finely ground, roasted hazelnuts, or roll in a little extra cocoa powder or coconut.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
