Healthy Irish Shamrock Shake

Recipe By

With St. Patricks Day around the corner, I decided to pull up some of my old St. Patricks Day recipes and make some fun treats for my family. Sometimes when I revisit an older recipe, I discover new and more nutritious ways of making them. That is exactly what happened with this NEW version of my Irish Shamrock Shake recipe.

Shamrock shakes are all the craze this time of year and there is definitely no shortage of shamrock shake recipes! It’s good though because there are so many different ways you can make them. It’s important that we keep an open mind when it comes to food, that’s how we find new things. We can also improve our health by adding more nutritional ingredients based on dietary needs.

Shamrock Shake St. Patricks Day Recipe

This “milkshake” is almost a smoothie. It includes tons of fresh ingredients that make it naturally green and naturally sweet!

  • Avocado: This is my new not-so-secret (now) ingredient. Avocado adds a ton of nutritional goodness to this shake like additional protein, magnesium, and vitamin C.
  • Bananas: Bananas are naturally sweet, especially when they are on the more ripe side. They also add additional potassium, carbohydrates, and fibre to this healthy shake.
  • Spinach: This seems almost obvious… but these spinach leaves not only add to the nutrition of this healthy milkshake, but they are also the primary reason it is green.
  • Fresh Mint & Chocolate Chips: Fresh mint paired with chocolate chips is the main flavour of this St. Patricks Day staple

How to make this Easy, Healthy Milkshake Recipe (that will rock your St.Patricks Day!)

This simple recipe all goes into the blender! It’s important to make sure the chocolate chips (if used) get blended for a sufficient about of time (for toddlers). I also like to add a few crushed ice cubes to the blender to make it extra cold but that is totally optional!

How to serve these Healthy Shamrock Milkshakes

Top this healthy shamrock shake with a dollop of Greek yoghurt, a drizzle of chocolate, or a sprinkle of crushed chocolate chips. Yum!
